9/21/2023 0 Comments Azor bikes![]() Given that Batavus underwent the same changes a few years earlier, it seems that what used to be known as the two major Dutch bicycle manufacturers are essentially no longer differentiated from bikes mass-produced in Chinese factories by the likes of Trek and Republic - which is not surprising, because as of several years ago they are being produced in the same Chinese factories. Seeing this at Interbike, it made complete sense as the finishing touch after a number of other changes Gazelle has undergone over the past few years, such as switching to welded chainstays and loop connector. ![]() Who knows what goes on behind the scenes over there, but the bottom line is that a Trek Dutch bike now exists.ĭo you see much of a difference? Because you are now looking at the latest model from the Dutch bike manufacturer Gazelle - namely, at a rather crudely welded unicrown fork. It made me imagine that perhaps there were these warring fractions at Trek, with one adamant on designing European-inspired city bikes and the other disgusted by the idea and insisting that all resources be focused on Madones. "I don't really know anything about this," he said, "but let me see if I can get someone who does." I waited, but no one came, and so I ended up photographing it as it was, then moving on. He looked confused, as if I'd brought him some weird bike he'd never seen before and wants nothing to do with. But the bike was locked up to a display stand, so I asked a representative in the booth about it. Here is an Interbike anecdote for you: Upon seeing Trek's Dutch bike, I naturally wanted to examine it carefully: to feel the weight, to move it to a location that would make it easier to photograph, maybe even to test ride it. Loop frame, chaincase, dressguards, vintage-style graphics and even - believe it or not, some lugwork (despite the allegedly aluminum frame?). Workcycles produces the highest quality, most durable and practical city bikes around and it's really nice that you can now get one of these in a color other than black.Meet the Trek Cocoa: a "Dutch-inspired" 3-speed. Here is an image of a 55cm matte black that we sold recently. But we do have one 2-Tube Transport which is a 61cm in matte black. As of the time of this writing we do not have any Oma models in stock. And the 2-Tube Transport is available in the same colors (minus violet-although that would be a sweet looking bike). The Workcycles Oma, is now available in matte black, matte grey, metallic green and violet. But for now here's some more images of these new colors. It's worth noting that these new colors are particular to the Secret Service model and not the Oma or 2-Tube Transport (more on these below). This idea of making it standard was also motivated by the new colors as I was not feeling up for the additional inventory challenge of having enough of each new color rack in stock for when a customer of a particular color wanted one. They are also removable in seconds so if it's not something you need for a particular ride (or to help you lift these beasts up or down a flight of stairs- something my wife does on a daily basis) it's super simple to take off when needed. The front carrier is a game changing feature that exponentially increases the functionality of these bikes. That has been flipped and the front carrier comes standard and Brooks is optional. One other change, we used to sell all Workcycles city bikes with Brooks leather saddle standard and front carrier rack optional. However any inventory we bring over ourselves will be of the matte variety. You can special order gloss black for a fee. Oh and black will now be matte finish only. ![]() I’m very excited to show you the new stock colors available on the Workcycles Secret Service bikes. Well to be more specific you could get these bikes in just about any color as long as you were willing to pay a pricey custom color fee. Like the old saying goes, you can get it in any color you like as long as it's black. Up until now we could only get their Azor produced city bikes in gloss or matte black. We’ve been a Workcycles dealer since 2013. Classic dutch bike, Commuter Bike, Dutch Bike, new colors, Transport Bike, Workcycles, workcycles secret service ![]()
